Harbin Update

On June 2007 we made great headway in our fight to help these helpless animals. The EU Parliament closed a major loophole in the already fur ban law which used to allow inporting and exporting as long as the dogs and cats were not bred and raised for fur.
There now is a law that supports no importing or exporting of dog and cat fur and sale of dog and cat fur in the EU. This law will also apply to all fur and fur products from any domestic dogs and cats. Also will include any close sub species that may be realted to the dog and cat family l;ike wildcats, as it would be hard to tell these furs apart from domestic dogs and cats.

This has been a fight for a long time and finally there has been some success thanks to many people supporting the cause and signing partitions to stop the pain and suffering of the many dogs and cats that needed someone to stand up and fight for them.
The European Parliament has now voted as a whole to stop this sale of fur so in eighteen months the law will take effect in every Member State of the EU. It will have to be enforced no later than the year 2008. It will however be up to the individual states to make sure that the furs are still not on the market and find a way to enforce it.
