Fur Industry
Dog and cat fur is not really part of the fur trading industry. Dogs are actually used for meat in Thailand and also used for lard and animal feed. In the Phillipines cats and dogs are slaughtered by the hundreds.These furs by the time they are sold could be used all over the world without alot of us even knowing it. Investigaters have found slaughter houses where hundred cats have been killed a day. These animals are kept in small cages and are without food and water up to six hours before they are cruelly killed for their skins.
Dogs are treated no better than the cats, they are crammed in small cgaes and hauled out one by one to their fate. They are killed by clubbing and finally their throats are cut or they are stabbed in the groin area. Dogs are gathered all over the country, some are strays , some stolen and others are raised for the fur on farms. They all by the end of the day meet the same fate.
For investigators to gather this information is not easy. They are not welcomed in the slaughter houses because of the bad press and that makes them question strangers. Eventually reporters do get inside and gather footage of the horrific sites that are very hard for them to see. There are alot of stolen pets that end up in these terriable places and the reason for slaughter os primarily for the fur.
